Cures: FAQ

Cures: FAQ

Q: Is Hope for Cures a 501(c)3 and is my donation tax deductible?

A: Yes. Hope for Cures is a part of the CrossFit Kids foundation, Tax ID# 30-0513015. All donations made to Hope for Cures are tax deductible as allowed by law. We provide receipts showing the amount and date of your donation, as well as the Federal EIN number.

Q: Does CrossFit Inc., take a percentage of the donations for overhead fees, admin costs, etc.?

A: No. 100 percent of the donations go directly from Hope for Cures to chosen organizations on the front lines of catastrophic childrens’ illnesses.

Q: What does CrossFit have to do with sick kids?

A: CrossFit’s priority is to move the world toward fitness according to the "Sickness-Wellness-Fitness" continuum. For some, the transition from sickness to wellness is the starting point. CrossFit is committed to helping people everywhere ... because we can. Through CrossFit donations, we are able to help them in a meaningful and lasting way.

Q: Is it possible to donate items? Such as books, clothing, and other materials?

A: We would love to accept these kinds of things, but the needs of sick kids are best determined by their doctors and parents. Our best support for these kids is to fuel the process with much-needed donations. We believe in maximum efficiency for your money.

Q: How do I make a donation?

A: Register here and begin raising money by making your own donation, sharing your profile with friends and family through your social networks, and rallying your local affiliates to make a difference in catastrophic childrens’ diseases.

Q: Can I send a check to donate (or collect check donations from my friends and family)?

A: Yes. Please complete this form and make checks payable to "CrossFit Kids Foundation" and mail to:

CrossFit Kids Foundation
3218 Lakeside Village Drive
Prescott, AZ 86301

Q: How does CrossFit decide how to spend the money?

A: With help from experts in the health care field who are also CrossFit athletes, we determine who is best leveraging funds to get the greatest net benefit. Who will make the most difference? If it were OUR child, where would we go for help?

  • Most knowledge. We want to fuel those who are already on the right path, and keep them moving forward with maximum speed and efficiency.
  • Most efficient and effective use of funds. We seek those who are best able to apply money where it will benefit sick kids most. This means seeking organizations that are highly streamlined and not full of bureaucracy.
  • Most leverage. We want all donations made through CrossFit to support organizations with access to more capital. We help them move through sticking points, support research and medicine development, provide food and housing, and get kids back to play.

Q: Do I/we have to do the fundraiser on July 6 2013 to be a part of this?

A: No. Hope for Cures is a continuing initiative. You can raise money any time, any way. Throw an event, sell some BBQ, or pedal your bike around the world...it's up to you. This website is here to support you in making people's lives better.

Some affiliates raise money year round for Hope for Cures; this is how some leaders achieve tens of thousands of dollars for the cause.

Q: How do I manage my affiliate?

A: First, register as an individual participant and select your affiliate during the registration process.

After completing registration, there is a link on the right-hand side of your profile that says "Are you the affiliate owner of [affiliate name]?" Click the link. In the form that appears, type the email address that is on file for your affiliate. An email will then be sent to that account, containing a link that will make you the manager. After clicking the link, you will be taken to a page where you can register your affiliate by setting a fundraising goal. Follow the instructions on that page, and then your affiliate will be all set.

Note: The email that contains the verification link can be forwarded to another member of your affiliate if you would like to delegate this responsibility.
