Jerry Hill, owner of CrossFit Oldtown in Alexandria, Va., participated in CrossFit for Hope in 2012 in Washington D.C. on the National Mall. Hill said he put an emphasis on making sure kids understood why Hope for Cures is important.
"We pushed it a little harder with the kids this year," he said of the benefit event. "I think it's a good opportunity to talk to kids about cancer and kids, and how we take care of them."
This year, Hope for Cures took place on the National Mall on July 6. Hundreds of CrossFitters raised money to help find cures for children with catastrophic illness.
